Chinese silver began to find its way to American through Chinese immigrants during the 1880s - 1930s periods. Most of the antique jewelry found in the U.S. collectible market today was imported during this period. There is an identical book piece with a different motif in the 2001 Fred Rezazadeh book on Collectible Silver Jewelry.
It appears that like many old silver pieces this originally may have had a gold wash as there are spots on it where a gold tone still appears. The motif is similar to an Art Nouveau floral pattern and it's a nice length at 35-1/2 inches. The book value in 2001 was $175, however, the price of silver have gone up just as gold has. Total weight is 4.7 ounces.
All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase. |
