Glass beads inter-spaced with silver metal findings (if you don't like the black patina, you can polish them)holding a 2-1/2 inch drop makes this an attractively unique Victorian lavaliere. Many sellers today refer to these as Czech, but when they are not marked like this one, it is also possibly Italian.
This is the first time I've seen this type of closure on anything other than another unique Sterling one from France. These old pieces are always so intriguing it’s like solving a mystery. It would be lovely to know the history behind more of them. The 17-1/2" necklace is made up of marbled green glass beads in a pyramid shape with a fluted silver disc attached to the bottom of each. These are on both sides of molded rose beads which almost feel like an early plastic, but shine like glass. Then there are tiny tubular beads that look like they could be Vaseline glass (I don't have a black light to check). Book value $350.
