From the 1890s Victorian era here's a lovely Art Nouveau buckle sash brooch. It is in such good condition there is no evidence it was sterling plated other than the pin*. The design is made up of two center flowers with tubular horn flowers on each side of them, which is mimicked in smaller sizes across the top and bottom. It is one of the prettiest buckle sash brooches I've had. It measures 2-7/8 inches x 1-3/8 inch. Book value $195.
*Note: Many of these early pieces were not marked, and it was not uncommon for a silver piece of jewelry to have a brass pin. I do not have chemicals for testing, but with the age and lack of wear, I believe this is sterling, however, both the book value and my pricing is as if silver plated over brass.
