Austrian Forbidden Fruit Pin in Green and White I just love the fruit pieces of costume jewelry, especially the Forbidden Fruit made in Austria in the 1950's. They are really under priced in the reference guides as hard as they are to find, and as high as they sell for. This one is in very good condition with minimal wear to the enameled leaves, and bright lively lime green rhinestones. The grapes are cream colored early plastic. Book value $150.

Green Crystal Christmas Tree Pin This is a fantastic Xmas Tree pin from the 50s. Done in green crystal with an Aurora Borealis finish and topped with Italian Aldeutsche beads with red centers. It's in excellent condition other than finish loss on the back brass.

Carved Ivory Dragon Pin The so-called vegetable ivory, made from doum-palm nut came into use after the ban on ivory. Its artwork is made in the same way, hand carved, without the need of killing. This dimensional dragon piece is a good example of the talent required in carving. Book value $40.

Authentic Ivory Carved Whaling Ship Scrimshaw Cameo This is one of the nicest Scrimshaw whaling ships you'll find. Even the natural shading on the ivory was used to the best advantage; making the sky and sea look as if a storm is brewing, with the sails full of wind with the birds sticking close by. The silver tone setting has a very nice design to it as well. Book value $50.

Unusual Silver Enamel Asian Pin This is a most unusual pin and I have not seen another one even similar to it in the years I've owned it. The Asian face is white enamel. She wears an elaborate collar that is green enamel and carries a huge crown or custom hat of some kind. The body of the hat is inset abalone wrapped in red enameled roping and topped with green enameled roping. The setting is sterling over base metal with norm wear. It is a pin that is bound to bring attention. Estimated book value $85.

Enamel and Cabochon Owl Pin This sweet and colorful pin is not marked, but it is definitely made by one of the of the high end manufacturers. It's covered in turquoise beads including dangle tail feathers with cabochons in red, marbled turquoise and faux lapis on its body. Red rhinestone eye give no doubt at WHO it's looking at. The body is covered with white enamel so it all really pops. There are two cabochons that show old glue, but only when magnified. This is a pin that will bring many compliments.

Multi Stone Pin With its lovely multi colors, you can wear this pin all year. There is so much sparkle I had a hard time photographing it. The stones are partly pronged and partly glued. It could be a little older, but I believe it to be from the 60's.

Incrediable Rhinestone Lion Brooch I have occasionally been able to pick up some nice pieces from a woman who did a lot of traveling. This incredible lion is marked, but it is illegible. It could be a Kenneth Lane, or it might be a foreign signature.

This is a huge guy, measuring over 4 inches in length, and 1-1/2" tall. He's covered in rhinestones and has green eyes. The photos taken on the black background have a bag under him to hold him upright, as the surface is hard, unlike the white silk. Book value $210.

Beaded Grape Cluster Pin with Etched Branch This is a super pin from the Art Deco period. The etched brass branch is 1-5/8" wide and has a simple C clasp back. There is a center soldiered piece with six rings that hold the beads. The three end beads have got elaborate swirl pin ends. The beads are what have me stumped on this pin. At first I thought they were marcasite, but they are not heavy enough to be stone or glass. Besides, they have a purple tone to them and they are not evenly spherical. I doubt they are pearls either, but I just don't know what they are. In any case, this is a very well made and lovely pin. Total length is 2-1/2 inches. Book value estimated at $125.

Gorgeous Bamboo Carved Jade Brooch The Asian influence is in big fashion once again, and this gorgeous brooch just fits the bill. We have all seen these carved jade pieces from the 60's; but this brooch is the nicest I've come across. Two bamboo stalks with leaves make this a delicate flowing piece of art.
