I have not been able to determine a book value.

Elephant Jelly Belly Pin This is a darling Jelly Belly elephant with rider attributed to Crown Trifari. The little man has a turquoise rhinestone body and a clear rhinestone head. This is a nice collectible piece for anyone interested in Jelly Bellies or Figural pieces.

336-32

Unusual Brooch with Turquoise Rhinestones Set in Black I've had this brooch for some years and am finally offering it for sale. It is an unusual piece shaped in a hexagon of light weight black plastic. There are some raised marks on the face that look like brush marks with a loupe. All the turquoise rhinestones, with the exception of one, look to be original. Around them, both in the center design and at the edge are impressed nodulars with a metal looking finish, some of which have worn off. I have come across a necklace like it in one of my reference books that dates it between 1925 and 30. Book value was $95 ten years ago.

All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

Chatelaine Reverse Carved Jelly Belly Bird Pin This delightful original 1950's chatelaine shows off a pair of mother and baby birdie pins. Their jelly bellies are reverse carved. Made of brass plated metal, there is normal minimal wear, and the pins are nice and sharp. Mommy birdie measures 2-1/2" and has three curled feathers for her wing and Junior is 2-3/8" with a two feather wing.

All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

570-1

Bakelite People Pin with Moveable Joints The neat people pins that were created during the 1940's are now some of the most coveted Bakelite pieces. They don't show up nearly as much as other items, and are not always in the best condition when found.

This little guy, well I shouldn't say little as he is four inches in length, is in excellent condition. All the paint is in tact, his joints move as they are meant, and he swings on a wooden seat that hangs from a lovely formed carved trunk. Made of Bakelite and other plastics, wood and metal rings for the joints. The chain is made of plastic rings. He has such a happy face it reminds me of years gone by when children use to swing rather than sit in front of a computer for recreation. All he needs is a little cleaning. Book value $600.

All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

Click for more detail...
733-1

Rare Pierrot Bakelite Bangle in Red Very rare Pierrot Bakelite bangle. Hand carved and died a deep red. Tests positive with Simichrome as Bakelite. This bangle has a hand carved signature for Butler and Wilson which, according to the dealer I purchased it from in Paris, has some interesting history behind it as follows.

Butler and Wilson were antique dealers first and foremost at Portobello market in London. Later they started to design jewelry which was mostly productions of vintage pieces. They had a booth in Harrods where they were selling antique and Art Deco jewelry, as well as their contemporary line in the 1970's. During this time they purchased a bangle lot and had them signed with their name for their enterprise. Book value is $800.

A couple of things about Bakelite that distinguishes the old from the new is that the "French" Bakelite will never test positive because they have all been resin washed. Plus you see a lot of "reworked" Bakelite today (pieces made from old Bakelite pieces) these have been resin washed also and will not test. There is tons of Bakelite coming into the U.S. from China and these will not test positive either. With Bakelite being all the rage and selling for next to nothing on eBay these days, I hope this bit of information will help you as a buyer have a little more insight as to what you are spending your money on.

All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

354-12

Pearl White Dimensional Flower Bunch Pin This early plastic pin is a beauty. It measures over four inches and the flowers are three dimensional and sit 1/2 inch high. Its pearl white color reminds me of a wedding. The pin back is in excellent working condition. This is a true treasure that came with some other items fresh out of an estate.

287-2

Early Plastic Scotty Dog with Moveable Head Who, Me? These old moveable plastic pieces were so darling. This black Scotty dog is in mint condition other than it looks like someone did a poor job of re-gluing the pin. The pin clip is still in perfect condition, as is the head movement and paint. Size: 1-3/4" x 1-1/2 inch.

176-5

Celluloid Japan Lilly-of-the-Valley Pin This celluloid pin is rather unusual with the Lilly-of-the-Valley floral and black paint. Although from Japan, you can still only make out the J, part of the A, and the N on the back. It's in very good condition and great to add to a collection from the era.

599-1

Celluloid Hand with Red Nails and Jewelry This hand pin has lovely long figures with the nails painted red. There is no chipping; wish my nail polish would last so long! It's adorned with a ring and bracelet of metal and paste stones. The pin back is in perfect condition as well. Book value $165.

This early piece of celluloid is found in the reference books. Rather crudely made, I doubt the manufacturers ever dreamed these pins would be selling at the prices they do now.

FABULOUS BAKELITE & CONFETTI NECKLACE This terrific necklace is 27" long. It's made with huge confetti (gold, green and red - although all you see with the naked eye is the gold), facet and bakelite beads. This is a hard piece for me to let go of, as I love the unique and beautiful pieces; but I can't keep all of them I fall in love with! Book price is $225.

All my jewelry is antique or vintage used pieces for the most part. For this reason I try to show close-up photo's for your examinated, however, please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

336-21

Unusual All Plastic Teal Pin with Drop I've never come across a piece like this before. I bought it in Europe from a gal that collected pieces from markets and antique fairs. It looks like it was made in one piece with foil between the back and the light teal cabochons to give them depth, and make them sparkle. The back is the color of tortoise shell. The C rings that hold the dangle piece are also molded into the piece.

Made of Bakelite, the outer 1-1/4 inch dimension is of marbled rust brown, and the centers are golden. They are of coarse screw backs. I have them photographed with a stone necklace that is also listed, as they go so well together. (See necklace under Necklaces and Pendants if still available.)
