Victorian Collar Czech Pin with Amethyst Crystal This late Victorian collar pin is made with rhinestones and an amethyst crystal center. The back pin has a C closure and a tube hinge. It is my guess it is Czechoslovakian because it came from an estate with many Czech pieces, as well as it looks the part with its fancy brass work. Book value $65.

30-1

1800s Gold Open Face Elgin Pocket Watch First of all let me state that I know nothing about watches. This Elgin pocket watch has been scratch on the inside screw on back plate and appears to be 14k yellow gold. It is marked on the plate Dueber, Warranted 20 years, 10610039. There are also several numbers scratched on the plate that I was told are records of some sort of cleaning or work that had been done on it during the years. It has a single-sunk porcelain dial (there are scratches on it but not as visible as my photos make them appear) with black Arabic numerals minute markers, and seconds register, and does not appear to be working. It may just need a cleaning, but again, I do not know. There are no scratches on the front glass.

Inside around the edge of the movement is etched ELGIN NAT'L WATCH CO, USA, 15 JEWELS, 22213244.

All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

375-9

Snake Brooch with Turquoise Eyes This twisted; curled brooch mass of snakes is reminiscent of the Victorian jewelry. The snake’s eyes are done in facet turquoise glass. It's a nice size for a show piece, being almost three inches wide. There is a small spot of finish loss, other wise in very good condition. This can be easily touched up with Rub & Buff (which I can do for you if you’d like). Book value $50.

780-1

Royal Blue Domed Glass Brooch with Bird Motif We're back from your trip to Europe with some lovely pieces. I knew this was special when I found it, but to be honest I can't find anything like it in any of my reference books other than a hand painted brooch on jet black glass.

This brooch is royal blue domed glass. There is wearing on the top, and when viewed with a loupe it hasn't seemed to affect the terrific bird scene. That being said, I am not sure if this piece is truly hand painted, or if the scene was part of the glass processing. I was attracted to it not just because of its blue coloring, but because I love jewelry with bird motifs.

Set in what looks like a gold frame with a textured rope twist edge that is hammered on and appears to be gold over brass. It has a C-catch. There are some digs in the frame work that is normal for a piece of this age. The pin is sharp, but has a waved shaft. This does not affect it use. Found in Hungary but has no hallmarks.

All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

Mauran 1850 Gold Filled Wrist Watch I love this wrist watch. Not only does it look good, it is so comfortable. Inside the back cover is reads: Mauran 1850 Gold Filled. It is 15 Jeweled. It appears to be over wound and not running. I know nothing about watches, so cannot be of much help other than what I've stated.

781-1

Victorian Scottish Agate Bracelet "Purist" collectors say that "real" Scottish agate jewelry is never hallmarked; hence, precise dating is difficult. After Queen Victoria purchased Balmoral, a castle in Scotland in 1848, Scottish motifs took on a revival from the Gothic period.

Bracelets are a scarce find in Scottish jewelry so I was thrilled to find this one. Set in unmarked sterling with a lovely engraved clasp and a safety chain, the stones are held with a chain link and sterling bobs in-between. There is one repair to the chain in which the bob is missing.

The agates mimic the clasp shape and measure 3/4" by 1/2 inch. Remarkably there is not a chip or crack in the bunch. There are two of the coveted blood stones present, making this bracelet a desirable collectors piece.

730-2

Art Nouveau Motif Gold Wash Cuff This is a super cuff with thick Art Nouveau style motif that is all the vogue this fall. It is gold wash over what could be sterling, but I'm not sure about that. There is wear to the raise areas as I tried to show in the last photo, but it is not noticeable even in the sunlight. There are no dents to the mesh looking motif either. This is a spectacular cuff that is sure to please. Book value $175.

368-16

Hand Painted Porcelain Gutta Percha Cameo Wonderful cameo pendant of hand painted porcelain with gutta percha frame. The painting is simple yet endearingly sweet. The young woman wears her hair pushed back with a typical mid 1800s bonnet atop, and the large Grecian style earrings showing through. She also wears a collar locket. This piece is in very good condition but does need to be cleaned a little. Book value $350.

730-5

Victorian Green Glass and Sterling Lavaliere Glass beads interspaced with silver metal findings (if you don't like the black patina, you can polish them)holding a 2-1/2 inch drop makes this an attractively unique Victorian lavaliere. Many sellers today refer to these as Czech, but when they are not marked like this one, it is also possibly Italian. This is the first time I've seen this type of closure on anything other than another unique Sterling one from France. These old pieces are always so intriguing it’s like solving a mystery. It would be lovely to know the history behind more of them. The 17-1/2" necklace is made up of marbled green glass beads in a pyramid shape with a fluted silver disc attached to the bottom of each. These are on both sides of molded rose beads which almost feel like an early plastic, but shine like glass. Then there are tiny tubular beads that look like they could be Vaseline glass (I don't have a black light to check). Book value $350.

702-1

Lovely Victorian Silver Buckle Brooch From the late Victorian era here's a lovely Art Nouveau buckle brooch. Made of brass with a heavy silver coating, there is little evidence it was plated other than the pin back. The design is made up of two center flowers with tubular horn flowers on each side of them, which is mimicked in smaller sizes across the top and bottom. It one of the prettiest buckle brooches I've had. Book value $195.

VICTORIAN ITALIAN GLASS SEED BEADS This antique necklace is made of the tiniest Italian glass seed beads in a length of 55". The multi colored beads are strung together with fine wire that looks like copper. That dates it to the late Victorian era. These are fairly rare to come by, no doubt because they are so danity.

343-1

Victorian Carved Elephant Pre-Ban Ivory Bird Brooch This exquisite antique brooch is carved from, of coarse, pre-ban ivory. Hand-carved from a single piece of elephant tusk. The openwork design features two pheasants amid an incredible profusion of ivy leaves and delicate vines that swirl around a graceful frame. The mossy foliage background makes this a fabulous 3 dimensional brooch. I can only imagine the hours of work this must have taken the craftsman to finish with such a truly superb one of a kind piece of art. The pin is turned up a little at the end, put it does not snag. This brooch has a book value of $2000.
