Around the World

Last year we introduced our ATTIC SALE section. It proved to be a big success. Customers could see the book value of each piece of our older inventory and make an offer on it. With the poor economy and the need for all of us to watch our pennies, we've decided to turn the entire store over to the same principle during these hard times, so you can still afford to dress up without breaking the bank.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS: You tell us what you are willing to pay to make an item yours, and we'll do our best to make it possible. DON'T BE SHY - This has proven to be as much for us as it is for you!

Here you'll find jewelry from around the world to please your taste for something just a little different.

354-37
Spectacular Native American Silver Cuff, Marked This is a large two inch wide Native American silver cuff with turquoise and coral. The inlay motif of a bird in flight is taken from nature, with one on each side. It is marked HMIJ, T. A very small sample of this type of work is in one of my price guides for $70. I recently saw a collection of big Native American bracelets, with one like this in reverse stone colors for $800. You won't do better than this price!

All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

Egyptain Revival Green Czech Glass Necklace This Egyptian Revival necklace is in mint condition. Made of Czech glass, the pendant depicts the head of a Pharaoh with a bird on the top of his head dress. It's in a filigree stamped setting that also houses four amber rhinestones. The total length of the pendant is 2-1/4 inches, making the piece hang at 15-1/4 inches. The chain has marbled green glass beads in three inch intervals.

371-4
Clay/Stone Scarab Necklace Here is a neat scarab necklace in the popular Egyptian Revival style. The colors are beige, buff brown, and turquoise. I haven't a clue how this was made. It appears to be clay or stone and is cool to the touch. The scarabs are not molded, but carved. The largest one that hangs 1-1/4" is completely hollow on the inside and the back has a bird carving among others signs. It's not a heavy piece, and has been made to look older than it truly is. I would estimate this being from the 1960's.

373-5
Pre 50's Mexican Sterling Aztec Design Bracelet Rare and heavy, this piece of Mexican jewelry is pre-50's, before the government required any markings of silver content or location. These old pieces, the majority from Mexico City, are marked only Silver Made in Mexico, or as this one, Mexico. Most of these were of high quality, as can be seen in this Aztec design with a total weight of 1.9 ounces. The length of the bracelet is 7-1/4 inch. There is some damage to three of the six circular knobs in the design as seen in the close up photo. They do, however, give the impression of being part of the design and add interest to the it. I have not cleaned this piece, is as my normal practice, since some prefer the old patina.

Click for more detail...
595-3
Chinese Silverwork Pin With Ivory Carving I've seen more of the silver and enamel jewelry work come out of China, but I have here another unique find. This pin is two sided, with a honeycomb filigree backing, and an elaborate notch scroll work front. It is not marked, but looks like a gold wash over silver with some finish wear visible with a loupe. In the center is a carved ivory Chinamen that is prong set. I'm guessing at the age, putting it between 1930-1950. It looks like it may have been pained in some areas, such as the eyes and belt, that have long since faded. This is a terrific piece of Asian artwork.

Click for more detail...
405-1
Bright Murano Glass Bird Necklace with Gold Molded glass bird motif jewelry has gained a popular following in the last few years. I have seen many pieces, but never one with as many huge clusters of leaves and birds; nor of one with the gold accent. Each bird, and many of the beads are peppered with gold. There is not a chip or crack in this 17 inch necklace. The colors are bright and gay, showing off a good sampling of some of over a hundred shades the industry boosts. I would estimate this piece was made in the 1930's in Gablonz, North Bohemia, a small mountain town that owes its existence to the trade, although most people refer to this glass as Murano glass from Italy.

Click for more detail...
371-14
Peking Glass and Filigree Asian Necklace Unbelievably this piece is not marked. It is well made with solid elephant and tuck charms, detailed filigree, and green Peking glass beads. The Asian Buda sits in a 1-3/4" pagoda in which a light chain fringe hangs another four inches. I know I've seen this clasp on designer pieces, but I'm not putting my finger on who used it. You are bound to get a lot of admirers with this necklace.
